US Stocks Surge After Oil Prices and Bond Yields Ease
The US stock market saw its best day in six weeks on Thursday as oil prices and bond yields eased, providing relief for Wall Street.
The S&P 500 jumped 1.1% to 7,637.76, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 316 points or 0.6%, and the Nasdaq composite climbed 1.7%.
The price of Brent crude oil slid 1% to $104.82 per barrel, down from nearly $110 earlier in the week due to concerns over the Iran war's impact on global oil supplies.
The yield on the 10-year Treasury fell to 4.93% from 5.01% late Wednesday, reducing pressure on stocks and making borrowing more affordable for consumers and businesses.
