US Stocks Surge on Eased Oil Prices and Bond Yields
The US stock market experienced its best day in six weeks on Thursday after oil prices and bond yields showed signs of easing. The S&P 500 index jumped by 1.1% for just its second increase in nine days, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.6%, and the Nasdaq composite climbed 1.7%. The gains were largely attributed to a decline in the price of Brent crude oil, which fell 1% to settle below $105 per barrel.
This downward pressure on oil prices led to a decrease in the yield on the 10-year Treasury, which dropped to 4.93%. Nvidia and other AI stocks also contributed significantly to the rally, with their gains leading the way on Wall Street.
