US Stocks Tumble as Tech Shares Slide on Wall Street

On Tuesday, August 18, Wall Street indexes took a hit as technology shares led the decline on the Nasdaq. The tech-heavy index dropped 366 points, or 1.33 percent, to settle at 26,289 points.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average also fell, shedding 116 points, or 0.22 percent, to finish at 53,348 points. Meanwhile, the broad-based S&P 500 lost 53 points, or 0.69 percent, closing at 7,692 points.

In a separate development, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil prices remained steady above $85 per barrel.
