The US strikes on Kharg Island did not halt oil production in Iran, according to an Iranian official. The official, CEO of Iran's national oil company, called US President Donald Trump's earlier claim that 'Kharg Island being blown to smithereens' 'laughable'.

The official stated that despite the strikes, several projects on Kharg Island are still ongoing and have even made significant progress. The official mentioned that some projects are currently 20% to 30% complete.

This comes after US forces struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island on Sunday, marking the first US strikes on Iranian territory since late July.
