US Strikes Three Iranian Oil Tankers After Missile Attack Attempt

The US military has struck three Iranian oil tankers in response to an attempted missile attack on American Navy ships, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM).

CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper said the strikes were a message to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that if they shoot at US forces, there will be an even higher economic cost.

The IRGC had fired ballistic missiles toward two US Navy warships patrolling regional waters, but the ships evaded the attack with no American personnel hurt.

CENTCOM said it permanently disabled two tankers and completely destroyed a third in the Gulf of Oman. The vessels were part of 'a multibillion-dollar shadow network' that finances IRGC and its regional proxies.
