US Strikes Three Iranian Oil Tankers Amid Escalating Conflict
The United States and Iran have engaged in a new round of attacks in the Middle East. On Saturday, US Central Command said it struck three Iranian oil tankers after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched ballistic missiles at two US Navy ships.
Admiral Brad Cooper, head of US Central Command, warned that if Iran shoots at US vessels, 'we will impose an even higher economic cost.' The IRGC responded by threatening intensified strikes against US military vessels in the region.
The exchange of attacks has escalated tensions between the two countries. Iran is a major oil producer and exporter, with 90% of its crude passing through Kharg Island before the war. A US attack on the island could further pressure Iran's oil industry and economy.
