US Strikes Three Iranian Oil Tankers in Retaliation for Warship Attacks

The US military has launched strikes against three Iranian crude oil tankers in retaliation for attacks on two US Navy warships. The strikes destroyed one tanker, the Suezmax-sized Kylo, which sank in the Gulf of Oman.

According to the US Central Command post, the crew of the Kylo was told to abandon the vessel before the strike. Shipping data suggests that Kylo wasn't carrying crude oil at the time of the attack.

Admiral Brad Cooper, who runs Central Command, said 'Let the message to the IRGC be clear: If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost, taking out three of yours.'
