US Support Boosts Strait of Hormuz Oil Traffic

US Central Command (CENTCOM) chief Admiral Brad Cooper reported that more than 1 billion oil barrels have moved out of the Strait of Hormuz over the past two months with US support.

In a video message, Cooper stated that the main transit lanes in the waterway are clear of mines and that over 2,000 ships have passed through the maritime gateway since the beginning of the period.

The volume of oil and gas transported through the Strait has increased to its highest level in six months, with some reports suggesting it reached between 10 million and 11 million barrels per day (bpd) according to a senior White House official.
