US Unleashes 'Greatest Financial Offensive' Against Iran Amid Escalating Tensions
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has warned of an 'economic D-Day' as the US prepares to roll out new sanctions against Iran, targeting its trade partners. In a statement published in the Financial Times, Bessent described the move as the 'single greatest financial offensive ever marshalled against an adversary'.
The sanctions come amid escalating tensions between the two nations, with thousands of people killed and millions displaced since US and Israeli strikes on Iran began in February.
Iran has vowed to shut down all oil exports from the Gulf if the economic war continues, with Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei warning that any country participating in or supporting America's economic war against the Iranian people would be regarded as an act of war.
