USDA Corn Export Estimates Face Reality Check Amid Ongoing Black Sea Conflicts

The USDA's recent corn export update has been met with optimism from traders, but experts warn that further bullish revisions may be unrealistic given the ongoing conflicts in the Black Sea region.

According to data from the USDA, the agency increased its estimate of corn exports from Ukraine and Russia by only 1 mmt this month, despite a suggested reduction of 9 mmt. This discrepancy has led many to question the accuracy of the current estimates.

The increase in new-crop export estimates is also seen as overly optimistic, with some experts predicting that further cuts to exports from the region will be necessary due to the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia.
