The USDA released its Sept. 11 world agricultural supply and demand report, which included lower corn yield and production estimates.

Corn yields are forecasted at 178.5 bushels per acre, down 2.2 bushels from the previous estimate and 8 bushels from 2025.

Illinois corn growers are expected to achieve a 209-bushel-per-acre yield, down from 212 last month and 214 in 2025.

Matt Bennett, co-founder of AgMarket.net, said that while the report was expected to show a drop in yields, it's still unclear what this means for the market. He noted that corn futures saw a slight boost immediately after the report, but soybeans traded lower.
