USDA Faces Grilling from Senate Dems Over Beef Projections

USDA projections for beef supplies have come under scrutiny from Senate Democrats, who questioned officials about the agency's forecasts.

The USDA released its latest projection on August 21, which estimated a near-record harvest for the 2026-27 season. However, corn futures rose after the agency cut its yield forecast below expectations.

Senators asked USDA officials to explain the discrepancy between the projected beef supplies and the rising corn prices. Bob Worth, director of the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association, was present during the meeting but did not comment on the matter.
