USDA Reports Moderate Demand in Nebraska and Western Cornbelt Slaughter Cattle Market
The USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service released its Morning National Slaughter Cattle Review for Thursday's session, covering transactions reported at 10:00 a.m. The report found that negotiated cash trade for slaughter cattle in Nebraska and the Western Cornbelt was moderate on moderate demand.
In Nebraska, live purchases were steady to 1.00 lower at 222.00 to 223.00 compared with Wednesday's prices. Dressed purchases remained mostly steady at 350.00. In the Western Cornbelt, live purchases traded mostly at 220.00 to 223.00, while dressed purchases were steady at 350.00.
The total negotiated sales for the day reached 33,085 head, a significant decline from last week's 35,412 head but an increase from this time last year when it was 2,462 head. Week-to-date deliveries and commitments also saw declines compared to last year.
