Utah Gas Prices Soar as St. George Surpasses $5 Per Gallon
The city of St. George in Utah has become the first metropolitan area in the state to surpass $5 per gallon for regular gasoline, according to AAA's gas price index.
The statewide average is creeping up towards this mark as well, with some counties already exceeding it.
Utah's premium gas average has surged to $5.48 per gallon, while diesel prices have reached a new state record of $6.56 per gallon.
Experts point to high crude oil prices as the main culprit for the rising costs at the pump, which are tied to the ongoing conflict with Iran.
