Uzbekistan Boosts Gas Production Amid Rising Energy Demand
Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has called for measures to maintain stability in the oil and gas market amid rising energy demand. At a recent meeting, officials discussed plans to increase gas production and supply, particularly during periods of seasonal demand.
The Uzbekneftegaz company is set to launch 27 new gas wells in August, which could potentially boost gas production by 887,000 cubic meters. This will involve work at five fields: Yangi Kultak, Niyoz, Koratau, Marvarid, and Tegirmon.
The meeting also addressed the need to maintain stable supplies to the domestic market, prevent unjustified price increases, and ensure sufficient energy resources are delivered to regions on time. To achieve this, authorities were instructed to monitor the process daily and reduce production and logistics costs.
Uzbekneftegaz was also tasked with increasing liquefied gas production to 606,000 tonnes by the end of 2026, up from the previously planned 520,000 tonnes. The company must ensure that forecast production targets for oil and gas are met to maintain balance in the domestic market.
