Uzbekistan Japan team up on $3 million gas infrastructure modernization project
Uzbekistan and Japan are moving forward with a $3 million project to upgrade the Central Asian nation’s gas distribution infrastructure. The initiative involves Japan’s ITO Corporation providing 90 modern gas distribution stations to Uzbekistan on a grant basis this year. Officials from Uzbekistan’s Hududgaztaminot and Japanese experts held a meeting in Tashkent to discuss the project, focusing on technical assessments and installation requirements.
Specialists are evaluating the technical condition of existing gas networks and identifying the best locations for the new stations. The goal is to ensure safe and efficient installation and operation of the equipment. The modernization effort aims to improve gas pressure regulation, enhance supply system reliability, and ensure stable and safe natural gas delivery to consumers, according to Hududgaztaminot.
The 90 gas distribution stations, valued at $3 million, are expected to boost the reliability of gas supplies in various regions and promote more efficient energy use. This project also highlights the growing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan in adopting advanced technologies and international expertise to strengthen Uzbekistan’s energy infrastructure.
Upgrading the gas distribution infrastructure is crucial for improving energy supply efficiency and reliability. Enhanced distribution facilities will help regulate pressure, minimize operational risks, and strengthen network stability for both residential and industrial consumers.
