Gas prices in the Valley and across Arizona have continued their upward climb, according to AAA Arizona.

Last week, gas prices rose by 2 cents a gallon in the Valley to settle at $4.44 a gallon. This is still higher than normal for this time of year due to high crude oil prices, despite lower gasoline demand. The national average also increased by three cents a gallon to reach $4.07 a gallon.

The highest August on record has been seen in terms of the national gasoline average so far this year, according to Aldo Vazquez, spokesperson for AAA Mountain West Group.
