Vance confirms Alaska LNG pipeline progress with South Korea pending details
US Vice President JD Vance confirmed on Monday that a long-awaited liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipeline project in Alaska is moving forward, though key details remain unresolved with South Korea. The announcement follows President Donald Trump's recent reveal of plans for South Korea to invest $200 billion in US infrastructure, including the Alaska LNG pipeline. However, South Korea has since indicated that the project is not yet finalized.
Vance acknowledged the project's progress but emphasized the need for further discussions. 'I think it's something that's going to happen,' he told reporters in Washington. 'Obviously, you still got to work out some of the details, and the South Koreans have spoken to that.' He also highlighted strong global demand for American natural gas as a factor that could help push the project forward.
