Vance Says Alaska LNG Pipeline Moving Forward Despite Unresolved Details
US Vice President JD Vance has expressed confidence in the future of a long-planned liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipeline in Alaska, though he acknowledged that details still need to be finalized with South Korea. Speaking to reporters in Washington on Monday, Vance said the project was likely to move forward but required further negotiation.
The remarks come after US President Donald Trump last week unveiled plans for South Korea to invest $200 billion in American projects, including the Alaska LNG pipeline. However, Seoul quickly clarified that the project was not yet finalized, introducing some uncertainty.
'I think it’s something that’s going to happen,' Vance said. 'Obviously, you still got to work out some of the details, and the South Koreans have spoken to that.' He emphasized the strong global demand for American natural gas as a key factor in making the project viable.
