Venezuela Deal Could Boost Global Oil Supply and Alters Energy Landscape
The Trump administration has announced a deal with Venezuela aimed at making its oil production 'investable'.
This move comes after executives described the country's petroleum business as 'not investible' in January.
Poten's Director of Tanker Research Erik Broekhuizen noted that while Venezuela's oil industry faces significant challenges, there has been some progress in crude oil production and exports are starting to recover.
The deal is centered around North American Blue Energy Partners (NABEP), a large operator owned by Venezuelan oil magnate Alejandro Betancourt, which will be given concessions to drill.
Rystad Energy analysts believe the deal could reshape Venezuela's long-term production trajectory but warn that recovery will be gradual and subject to significant risk factors.
