Venezuela Invited to G20 Energy Summit Amid US-Iran Oil Plans
The G20 Energy Ministers' meeting is being held in Houston, Texas from September 14 to 16. US Interior Secretary Doug Burgum confirmed that all G20 countries, including Venezuela, are represented at the summit.
Venezuela's presence comes as Washington considers a potential takeover of Iranian oil inspired by its earlier precedent with Caracas. Energy cooperation between the two capitals is a central theme at the Texas summit.
The US government wants to strengthen energy ties and create new opportunities for American companies in Venezuela, according to Burgum's office. The Houston meeting will focus on 'energy abundance', a topic that will guide discussions among delegations over three days.
