Venture Global Hit with Lawsuit Over LNG Terminal Construction

A group of commercial fishers and seafood processors in southwest Louisiana has filed a lawsuit against liquefied natural gas company Venture Global. The plaintiffs claim that dredging operations for a new terminal resulted in a sediment spill that killed millions of oysters and reduced catches of finfish, crabs, and shrimp.

The affected area is near Calcasieu Lake, where the company is enlarging a channel to allow tankers access to its planned CP2 terminal. Venture Global already operates a nearly $10 billion LNG export terminal in Cameron Parish and is currently constructing a second, $30 billion terminal there.
