Venture Global Hits 1,000th LNG Cargo Milestone Amid Strong Q2 Performance
Venture Global has reached a major milestone in its LNG export business, shipping its 1,000th cargo just four years after its first shipment. This achievement is all the more impressive given that the company has managed to contract 91% of its available 2026 cargos at a weighted-average liquefaction fee of $5.05 per MMBtu.
The company's Q2 performance was strong, with LNG volumes sold increasing by 42% to 466.4 TBtu. Cargos exported also rose by 43% to 127 compared to the same period last year. Revenue increased by 48% to $4.58 billion, operating income more than doubled to $2.19 billion, and net income surged 266% to $1.35 billion.
Venture Global has a number of agreements in place with major players such as EnBW, TotalEnergies, and Vitol. These deals cover a total of over 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of new or expanded LNG off-take agreements. The company's modular architecture has allowed it to maintain production levels despite scheduled maintenance on its gas turbines.
Looking ahead, Venture Global is targeting commercial operations for Plaquemines Phase 1 in Q4 2026 and Phase 2 in mid-2027. CP2 remains on schedule for first LNG in the second half of 2027. The company has also completed several refinancing transactions that are expected to generate more than $100 million of annual cost savings.
