Venture Global Moves Plaquemines LNG Toward Commercial Operations

Venture Global has taken a significant step toward fully launching its Plaquemines LNG facility, filing a request with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to place the 3.6 Bcf/d project into service. This move marks the transition from prolonged commissioning to commercial operations, allowing the company to begin selling liquefied natural gas cargoes to long-term customers under pre-negotiated contracts.

During the commissioning phase, Venture Global has been selling volumes into the spot market. However, shifting to commercial operations will enable the company to lock in prices through long-term contracts, which are often more favorable than spot market rates. This transition is a critical milestone for the Plaquemines LNG facility, positioned to become a key player in the global LNG market.
