Vernon Community Mourns Loss of Lawrence E. Delanoy

Lawrence (Larry) E. Delanoy, a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion and entrepreneur, passed away on August 6, 2026, after complications from kidney failure at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

Born in Radville, Saskatchewan, Larry was the fourth of seven children to George and Blandine Delanoy. He began his career in the oil patch as a battery operator and eventually owned and operated a successful oilfield maintenance business in Lloydminster, Alberta for many years before semi-retiring.

In 1989, Larry moved with his wife Blanche to Vernon, BC, where he built their home in Armstrong, BC. He took great pride in serving as the golf course marshal at the Royal York Golf Course and owned a taxi business in Armstrong, which he enjoyed running for over 10 years.

Larry's dedication to the community was evident through his membership with the Royal Canadian Legion for 39 years. His family remembers him as an avid golfer, curler, pool player, and shuffleboard enthusiast who cherished both competition and camaraderie. He leaves behind a loving wife of 61 years, Blanche; children Cindy (Greg), Barry (Jo-Anne), Joanne, and Karen (Tony); seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
