Vernon Man Delbert Douglas Passes Away at 86 After Long Working Life
Delbert Douglas, an 86-year-old man from Vernon, BC, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026. He was born in Hespero, Alberta, on December 30, 1939, and spent his early years in the province before settling in Vernon.
Douglas had a long working life, with stints in the Alberta oil fields, hauling water and crude oil, and later hailing milk for Okanagan Dairy Transport in Vernon until his retirement at age 58. He was known as a hardworking and dependable man who never asked for much but gave much through his kindness and care for those around him.
Douglas leaves behind his children, Darlene (Dave Lessard) Douglas and Dwayne (Donna) Douglas, as well as their mother Patricia Douglas. He is also survived by two brothers, Daryl (Judy) Douglas and Dorval Douglas, and a sister Diane (Art) Stewart.
