Vertex Material Targets Nasdaq Listing with US$7 Billion Valuation
Vertex Material, a Malaysian advanced materials company, is set to list on the Nasdaq exchange by 2027. The firm claims it has already reached unicorn status with a valuation of US$7 billion (RM28.69 billion). To support its expansion plans, Vertex Material is establishing a manufacturing operation in the US, which will provide direct access to copper supplies and streamline logistics for customers.
The company's focus on developing next-generation copper composite materials has been driven by the increasing demand for such products in various industries, including electrification, renewable energy infrastructure, electric mobility, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and high-performance electronics. Copper prices have hit all-time highs this year due to concerns over ore supply.
The Vertex Material plant in Kampung Baru Subang currently operates with an offtake arrangement for 160,000 tonnes of product annually. Founder and technical director Datuk Tan Chin Tong said the next phase is about execution: demonstrating consistent product performance, expanding manufacturing capacity, and building a reliable supply chain around secured customer demand.
