Gold prices in Vietnam have seen significant declines since March 8, 2026, leaving many investors with substantial losses as Vietnamese Women's Day approaches on October 20. Those who purchased SJC gold on International Women's Day are now facing losses of up to 43.2 million VND per ounce, with gold bars currently trading at 144.8 million VND per ounce, down from 185 million VND in March.
Major gold traders like SJC, DOJI, and PNJ Hanoi are all reporting similar price drops. At SJC, the buying price is 141.8 million VND per ounce, while the selling price stands at 144.8 million VND. For those who bought 5 ounces on March 8 for 925 million VND, selling today would yield only 709 million VND, resulting in a loss of 216 million VND.
Other traders, such as Bao Tin Minh Chau (BTMC), are offering even lower buying prices at 139.8 million VND per ounce, exacerbating losses for investors. In Phu Quy, gold bars are trading at 141 million VND for buying and 144.8 million VND for selling, reflecting a 44 million VND loss per ounce compared to March prices. Mi Hong, another notable trader, has a slightly different pricing structure but still shows significant losses for those who bought gold in March.
The current gold prices across various regions in Vietnam remain consistent, with SJC gold bars priced at 141.8 million VND for buying and 144.8 million VND for selling. The uniformity in pricing highlights the widespread impact of the recent gold market downturn, affecting both investors and potential buyers considering gold as gifts for the upcoming Vietnamese Women's Day.
