Vietnamese Gold Prices Plummet Amid Global Market Turmoil
Gold prices plummeted across Vietnam on August 2nd, following the global trend. The price of SJC gold bars dropped by 900,000 VND/ounce to 141 million VND/ounce, while gold rings from major brands like Bao Tin Manh Hai and Phu Quy saw a decrease in selling prices ranging from 400,000 to 1.3 million VND/ounce.
Experts attribute the decline in domestic gold prices to the Federal Reserve's tightening monetary policy, which is motivated by rising oil prices rather than economic growth. The Fed's decision has led to a stronger US dollar and lower inflation expectations, making sustained gold price increases unlikely in the near future.
According to Rich Checkan, President and CEO of Asset Strategies International, 'the $4,000/ounce support level defines the lowest point of the price range. The factors mentioned above will limit the highest point.' He believes that investors can buy gold at a good price in the near future due to the current market conditions.
