Vineland Data Center Plan Approved Despite Resident Concerns
A 300-megawatt data center project in Vineland, New Jersey has been approved by the city's planning board. The facility will generate its own energy using fuel cells and store liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The project is being developed by DataOne for the Nebius Group to support artificial intelligence infrastructure as part of a $17 billion deal with Microsoft.
Residents expressed concerns about LNG safety, carbon emissions, and water usage during the approval process. However, the planning board voted 8-1 in favor of the proposal, prompting boos from the audience.
