Vineland Halt: Nebius Data Center Project Grounded Amid Permit Issues

Nebius' data center project in Vineland is facing delays after two stop-work orders were issued by the City of Vineland. The orders, dated August 6 and 10, halt construction on a liquefied natural gas tank and Bloom Energy fuel cells due to lack of prior approval or permits.

The project, which has a contracted capacity with Microsoft for approximately 300 megawatts, is counting on the fuel cells to provide power. Nebius executives did not mention the stop-work orders during their recent earnings call, stating that the project remains 'on track' for delivery.

DataOne Vineland, LLC, the site owner, must obtain prior approvals and permits before resuming work on the LNG tank installation. The City of Vineland has warned that noncompliance may result in fines up to $2,000 per day, with no certificate of occupancy issued until any penalties are paid.

Nebius and Bloom Energy did not respond to requests for comment, while DataOne stated that they do not expect the temporary pause to affect construction or delivery timelines.
