Vintage Combines and Corn Pickers Shared by Farm Progress Readers

A recent call from Farm Progress to its readers resulted in an overwhelming response of photos showcasing old combines and corn pickers from around the world.

The publication asked readers to share their vintage photos, which could date back as far as the turn of the last century. The deadline for submissions was 1986, but the response went beyond that timeframe.

John Joe Lyons sent in a photo of his 1980 S1540 New Holland combine harvesting winter barley in Ireland, while Martin Cleveland shared a vintage shot of a 1938 Minneapolis Moline Twin City MTA tractor pulling an MM combine. Ken Yoder also contributed with a photo of his 1978 John Deere 7700 combine harvesting soybeans on the Delmarva Peninsula.

Farm Progress has compiled over 100 reader photos, and is sharing them online in the form of slided shows that will continue through 2027. The publication notes that some of the photos are in color, while others are in black and white, and may be a bit blurry or dark due to grain dust on the camera lens.
