Viral Video of Houthi Attack Misidentifies Older Incident

A video circulating on social media claims to show a Houthi attack on Saudi Arabia's Aramco refinery in Jizan. The video appears to be from an older incident, not from 2026 as claimed.

The Houthis have indeed targeted the refinery, according to their military spokesperson Yahya Saree, who said the operation was a retaliation for Saudi drone strikes on Saada and Hajjah governorates.

A reverse image search of the video revealed that it was shared online in June 2025, with similar captions referencing an Israeli attack on Iran's Shahran oil depot. The situation at the time was reportedly under control, according to Reuters.

The original video from June 15, 2025, shows a fire and smoke at what appears to be an Iranian oil refinery, not a Saudi Aramco facility in Jizan. Multiple social media accounts shared similar footage on that date, with captions referencing the Israeli attack on Iran.
