Wall Street Closes Week on Mixed Note Amid Rising Bond Yields and Volatile Oil Prices

Wall Street closed the week on a mixed note as investors grappled with rising bond yields and volatile oil prices.

The S&P 500 inched up 0.2% after fluctuating between gains and losses throughout the day, but still recorded its second consecutive weekly loss.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.2%, while the Nasdaq composite rose 0.4%.

Rising bond yields weighed on the market, with the yield on the 10-year Treasury climbing to 5% from 4.94% late Thursday.

This marks the first time since 2023 that the 10-year yield has surpassed 5%, and it's expected to slow down economic growth by making borrowing more expensive.
