Wall Street Declines Amid Higher Oil Prices and Rising Treasury Yields

On August 17, Wall Street indices declined due to higher oil prices and rising long-term Treasury yields.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.5%, while the S&P 500 also dropped 0.5%. The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite lost 0.3%.

Crude oil prices rose approximately 3% during Monday's session, with West Texas Intermediate crude trading above $83 per barrel and Brent crude moving above $88 per barrel.

The increase in oil prices is a concern for financial markets as it can reignite inflation pressure, which may make it difficult for central banks to lower interest rates.
