Stocks on Wall Street rose on Friday as oil prices fell for the first time in a week, despite ongoing heavy fighting in the Middle East that threatens to slow global oil flows.

The S&P 500 index climbed 0.5%, but still faces its second consecutive losing week since March. Oil prices dropped after seven days of increases, according to AP Business Writer Damian J. Troise's report from New York.

Despite the market gains, Wall Street is expected to end the week in the red, a rare occurrence since March 2026. The S&P 500 index has seen only two consecutive losing weeks during this period, with Friday's performance still uncertain.
