Wall Street Holds Steady Near Record Highs Amid Oil Price Volatility

Wall Street remained near its record high on Tuesday, despite a relatively quiet day in markets. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.1%, still 0.4% below its all-time high set last month.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down by 168 points, or 0.3%, while the Nasdaq composite added 0.4% to its own record. Stocks had initially increased in the morning when Brent crude briefly fell below $98 per barrel, but oil prices later trimmed their losses and rebounded.

The price of Brent crude ultimately retreated to $98 per barrel after touching a high of $100.23 per barrel.
