Wall Street Stocks Waver Amid Escalating Tensions and Oil Price Drop
Wall Street stocks experienced a mixed finish on Friday as oil prices dropped for the first time in a week. The S&P 500 barely moved, rising just 3.68 points to 7,411.98, while the Nasdaq fell 161.87 points to 24,975.82.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 235.60 points to 51,947.25. However, all major indices lost ground overall for the week due to escalating tensions in the U.S. war with Iran and new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration.
Investors are also concerned about the impact of rising energy prices on inflation, which has been squeezing consumers and influencing the Federal Reserve's interest rate policy. The Fed meets next week and has a 38% chance of raising interest rates, according to CME FedWatch.
