Wall Street Stocks Waver Amid Iran War Escalation
The stock market closed on Friday with mixed results as oil prices declined for the first time in a week. The S&P 500 index barely moved, rising just 3.68 points to 7,411.98, but notched its second consecutive losing week since March.
On the other hand, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 235.60 points to 51,947.25, while the Nasdaq fell 161.87 points to 24,975.82 due in part to sharp losses from big tech stocks like Micron Technology and Broadcom.
The decline in oil prices was attributed to heavy fighting in the Middle East, which has been a concern for Wall Street throughout the week. Brent crude, the international standard, fell 3.9% to $96.78 after having risen above $100 earlier this week.
