Wall Street Ticks Higher as Oil Prices Retreat Again
The US stock market maintained its position near record highs on Tuesday as oil prices and bond yields retreated for the fifth consecutive day.
Oil prices had briefly fallen below $98 per barrel in the morning, but Brent crude settled at $99.25 per barrel, down 1.1% from last week's high of nearly $110.
The drop in oil prices helped boost stock prices, with the S&P 500 edging down by less than 0.1%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipping 185 points or 0.4%.
A few companies reported strong profit reports, including AutoZone which rose 3.3% after beating analysts' expectations, and Thor Industries whose stock climbed 5.5% despite facing a 'difficult selling environment.'
