Weaker Dollar Boosts Gold Prices Ahead of Key Inflation Data Release
The price of gold has risen slightly as the US dollar weakened on Tuesday. This change in currency value made gold and other precious metals more affordable for holders of other currencies, which boosted demand.
Market participants are waiting for fresh inflation data that could influence forecasts for the Federal Reserve's future decisions. The spot price of gold rose 0.1% to $4,407.27 per ounce, while US gold futures for December delivery fell 0.6% to $4,452.10 per ounce.
The dollar index fell 0.3%, and analysts say a weaker US currency is supporting the price of precious metals. However, higher interest rates typically reduce gold's appeal because it does not generate interest income.
