Weaker Dollar, Stable Rates Boost Gold Price on Friday
The gold price has gained ground on Friday as the US dollar weakened after in-line inflation data led to expectations of no interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve next month.
Spot gold rose 0.6% to $4,376.02 per ounce by 9:09 a.m. EDT (1309 GMT), while US gold futures increased 0.3% to $4,433.90.
Jim Wyckoff, market analyst at American Gold Exchange, said the lower US dollar index is supporting gold prices today.
