NutriQuest Business Solutions has published its weekly weaner pig profitability calculations. The calculations are based on industry representative production costs and futures pricing for lean hogs, corn, and soybean meal.

The weaner breakeven price was $11.81 per head as of August 28, down $2.87 from last week's calculation. This means that a producer would need to sell their weaners in February 2027 at the current futures price to break even on costs.

Feed costs increased by $4.03 per head this week, while February futures rose by $0.55 compared to last week's prices. The historical basis assumption remained unchanged from the previous week.

The 'margin over variable costs' for producers with empty space is $37.92 per head, which means that a producer could pay up to $37.92 per head and still break even on fixed costs such as housing and labor.
