Weather Forecasts Weigh Heavily on Natural Gas Futures
Natural gas futures traded lower on Friday morning as weather forecasts began to favor bearish conditions. The New York Mercantile Exchange natural gas futures contract was down 1.9 cents to $2.815/MMBtu at 11:45 a.m. ET.
The decline in prices is attributed to seasonally strong production readings and forecasts for waning weather demand, which weighed on the market's outlook. Physical natural gas prices were also affected, limping towards milder weekend temperatures.
