West Heats Up: Natural Gas Prices Strengthen Across Region

Natural gas prices in the West and Appalachia strengthened on Wednesday, while Southeast premiums continued to unwind as regional fundamentals pulled the market in opposite directions.

The Southeast premium, which had been elevated due to various factors including transportation constraints and strong demand, began to decline as the region's fundamentals improved. In contrast, Western prices rose broadly across much of the West, driven by growing demand and limited supply.

The price increase in Appalachia was particularly significant, with spot natural gas prices rebounding sharply. This uptick in prices suggests that Appalachian producers are increasing production to meet rising demand, which is having a positive impact on regional fundamentals.
