Western Gold Expands Gold Duke Production Plan
Western Gold Resources (ASX:WGR) has announced an expanded production plan for its Gold Duke gold project in Western Australia. The new plan lifts the contained gold production target by about 30%, from 59,700oz to 55,500oz.
The company's Managing Director Cullum Winn said that the bigger mine plan reflects more than just the higher gold price assumption. It also incorporates recent updates, including a December 2025 mineral resource update and almost 34,000 meters of close-spaced grade control and infill drilling.
At an assumed A$6100/oz gold price, the study estimates a A$72.9 million operating surplus before project-level capital, financing, and tax. The expanded production plan combines conventional open-pit mining with toll treatment at the Wiluna Processing Plant, avoiding construction of a standalone plant.
