Western Pa Gas Prices Climb Amid Ongoing Global Oil Instability
Gas prices in Western Pennsylvania are on the rise as motorists pay more at the pump this week. According to AAA East Central's latest Gas Price Report, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline climbed five cents to $4.258 per gallon.
This increase contrasts with the national trend, where the average cost of regular gasoline fell by two cents over the past week to $4.09 per gallon. Energy analysts attribute the fluctuation in fuel costs to crude oil prices, which have remained in the $80-per-barrel range due to ongoing instability near the Strait of Hormuz.
As a result, gasoline prices remain nearly a dollar higher than they were at this time last year. The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that domestic gasoline supplies remained unchanged at 211.3 million barrels, while gasoline production increased to an average of 9.9 million barrels per day.
