The US Wheat futures market saw a correction lower on Wednesday as traders took profits after Tuesday's rally. This comes amid optimism over tentative diplomatic efforts to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has disrupted grain movement through the Black Sea.

According to Statistics Canada, Canadian wheat ending stocks as of July 31, 2026, rose by 57% from the same time last year, hitting their highest level since the 2017-18 marketing year at 6.6 million tonnes.

The US spring wheat harvest was 86% complete as of Sunday, three points ahead of normal. In contrast, US winter wheat seeding lagged behind, with only two percent seeded, compared to a five-year average of five percent.
