The wheat market was mixed at the cash close on August 5, with Chicago wheat finishing the midweek session between 3.75 and 10 cents higher. However, it seemed subdued heading into the weekend.

Kansas City futures gained between 6.5 and 14 cents across the board, while Minneapolis spring wheat was mixed, with nearby contracts down as much as 1.25 cents.

This comes ahead of the USDA's weekly export sales data, which is expected to show 250K-450K metric tons in net sales for wheat in the final week of July 2026.

The ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict has intensified attacks on vessels and ports, leading to concerns over Black Sea export flows. Algeria recently purchased an estimated 720,000 metric tons of wheat.
