Wheat Prices Plummet Under Black Sea Pressure

The wheat market took a hit on Friday due to pressure from the Black Sea region. Several countries, including Turkey, Egypt, and India, are in talks about ensuring safe shipment through this area.

The USDA's Export Sales report for the week of September 17 showed that 267,553 MT of wheat sales were made, which is shy of traders' expectations of between 350,000 MT and 600,000 MT. This was the fourth lowest total for the marketing year and a significant drop from the same week last year, with sales down 50.44%.

The top buyers this week were Mexico, Japan, and Vietnam, with Mexico purchasing 113,400 MT, followed by 87,600 MT to Japan and 60,000 MT to Vietnam.
